Spain have won the 2026 FIFA World Cup after defeating defending champions Argentina 1-0 in a dramatic final decided in extra time.
The 104th and final match of the tournament saw La Roja claim their second World Cup title, with their first triumph coming in 2010.
Substitute Ferran Torres scored the decisive goal in the 106th minute, finishing off a tense encounter to deliver victory for Spain. The goal was Torres’ first and only strike of the tournament.
Argentina were forced to play extra time with 10 men after midfielder Enzo Fernández was shown a red card at the end of normal time, leaving the holders at a disadvantage during the decisive period.
Spain controlled key moments of the final and held on to secure the trophy, ending Argentina’s hopes of retaining the title.
